Week of December 26, 2022 Small World Seafood Update

Hello, everybody!!

Well, it's been such an interesting year to say the least. We started off with a lack of so many products due to shortages from supply chain issues..(remember those?). Then, just as things were evening out, Russia goes into Ukraine and then everything got really crazy with prices and inflation and gas and, well, everything!

We navigated through this by being patient and looking for where the good buys were in the middle of this whole nonsense. We even found affordable items that really added to our lives. Marinated anchovies (boquerones), dill herring, Smoked tuna spread, and the item of the year....Fish cakes!!!

Salmon prices went down. Crab meat prices went down. Lobster prices went down. And guess what? We took the prices down coming to you. Not everybody did that. Supermarkets didn't. Restos didn't. I am proud of that. I am glad that we figured out ways for you guys to eat better quality seafood at cheaper prices. It feels like we really helped our community and what a beautiful community it is. Week in and week out, smiles and laughs and stories and human decency. We all thank you for that. We always look forward to pick up days and seeing you all and always feel so grateful for the love you give us back.

Anyway, before I puddle over here, let's get onto this week's bounty. We will have normal hours this week with our shop open for walk ins on Saturday from 8-1pm. We have tons of great things in store for you!

The first feature will be fresh Rainbow trout from Idaho! This is truly some marvelous trout coming to you boneless and either head on or head off. Great to pan fry or roast in the oven or even stuff with a fish cake! I posted a vid about it on our website. Check it out.

Second up is a gift from this past storm. The shifting winds and water currents moved some fish around to where local fishermen in the Carolinas were able to get some beautiful swordfish!! We rarely see it around here this time of year but here it is!! A gift, I tell ya!!

What would New Year's or any party night be without hamachi!! We have some of our excellent frozen hamachi loins, skinless and boneless. Also known as yellowtail in sushi restaurants, this is the sushi grade stuff that better sushi places carry. Slice thin, top with jalapenos and some of our ponzu sauce and be the rock star!!!

Definitely have Faroe Island salmon fillet! Also sushi grade! Definitely have Hokkaido dry sea scallops! Also sushi grade!!

We have whole blast frozen daurade! We have 5/6oz raw Canadian lobster tails! We have blast frozen cooked claw and knuckle lobster meat! We have littleneck clams! We will have an oyster tbd.

We will have more labneh, lonsa and pie dough. And how about your favorite pet snacks?

It's the end of the year!! Let's go out in style!!!!!!

And that's it for today. I know, I know, lots of words. But, hey, lots of info too, no?

See you later this week..

Peace
