Week of December 19, 2022 Small World Seafood Update

Hello, everybody!!! First of all, normal hours this weerk and next for those wondering. Also, we will open our shop to walk ins the next two Saturdays from 8-1pm for the last minute people and those who could not make the pick up days.

I don't know about you but this feels like the weirdest holiday season yet. It feels like everything is on the edge of being festive but still pretty bubbled in size. Weird. Just weird...Oh, well. Home is where the party is then. So be it. Better, cheaper and more connected...

Anyway, we have more fun stuff for everyone this week! I know, I know. You're freezer's full but you can't resist! So, at least that part feels like the holiday season! Life can still be a celebration!

So, the first feature we will have this week is branzini from Greece!!! We will sell them either butterflied and head off (meaning boneless) or whole and scaled, gutted and gilled (and bone in). The butterflied branzini will be sold fresh but are very freezable. The whole fish will be sold blast frozen and vac packed by us. They will hold up better that way. Whole fish will go bad much quicker than fillets so we prefer to preserve its freshness. Both will be sold 2 per order.

We also will have frozen raw 5-6oz Canadian lobster tails!!! You will get 2 per order. These are nice and meaty and you can always use some of the shells to make a stock for a risotto or bisque. The price took a little dip on these guys so you are getting a good deal here! I posted a recipe on our site on how to cook them on the stovetop by splitting them all the way through and using Bibou butter. OMG....

Next up is a something we've always wanted to do. Lots of people ask us about blue crabs. Well, the shelf life on live crabs, the cleaning, the schmutz, etc and who wants to bother. So, we actually went through the process of having them cleaned for you and frozen raw in 2lb bags. You get anywhere from 6-8 crabs per order. As many of you know, crabs have been very expensive over the past couple of years. Especially in restos. Like $10 each crab! Ridick. You'll get a bag for $28!! Just thaw and make a crab boil with some of our seafood spice or how about making some crab gravy for Christmas, huh?

We will have more smelts and salt cod (baccala). Faroe Island salmon fillet for sure. That stuff is the best salmon ever! And for good reason. They do things right. And sushi grade too! Also sushi grade are our delish Hokkaido scallops! Nice and plump, sear up beautifully and are the best of the best..Squid is now being packed in 1lb bags and each tube is frozen individually so you can use as many as you want. They average 5 to a pound. And, oh yeah,, blast frozen lobster meat. I mean, lobsters rolls in the middle of winter? How risque...

Mussels are the shellfish of the week. You'll have a good 5-6 day shelflife on them. Oysters will be Savage Blondes from PEI. Plenty of Char Siu Smoked salmon. More smoked Albacore tuna spread is around. Don't forget your sauces and marinades. Or your fish, shrimp or clam stocks. Left over seafood stews. Yum!!! And marinated anchovies and sardines make a killer appetizer too!!

We will have more labneh, lonsa and pie dough. And how about your favorite pet snacks for those doggie stockings, huh??

And that's it for today. I know, I know, lots of words. But, hey, lots of info too, no?

Peace
