JUNE 15, 2020

 HELLO EVERYBODY!!!

What a nice weekend....finally. The weather was beautiful. Lobster rolls all over the place. Grilled wahoo fish tacos aplenty. This thing gets more and more fun for us, I must say. Andy and I talk constantly about how communal this all feels. So many homes cooking seafood at the end of the week or over the weekend. So many oysters being shucked by a growing army of shuckers...It's like the sound of fireworks around happy hour anymore in Fairmount with all that popping going on! Nice...

We are going to do one more change to the delivery schedule. First of all, I am sorry to say that we will be eliminating the Friday stops starting this week. The only pick up day will be Thursday with order forms going out Wednesday. There weren't that many of you coming on Friday anyway but I apologize to those people. Now, the silver lining to all that is that we signed a lease on a space at 444 N 4th st between Spring Garden and Callowhill. We are in the process of putting it together to do some of our staging to get the seafood to you. It's become a little difficult to stage things in our warehouse with so much movement of boxes and skids going in and out. We needed a place where we could devote some uninterrupted attention to packing things for you guys.

The good part of it is that we will eventually be able to use this space ass a pick up point outside of our normal pick up times and places. Maybe your order could be available to be picked up there between 3pm and 6pm on Thursday. Maybe you could pick up on Friday between 10am and 7pm on Friday. Maybe you could pick up Saturday morning between 9am and 1pm. We are not sure how to do that properly. The one good thing about all this is that we have always had a great conversation with all of you about what works for you. So we will be seeking your feedback and we will listen to you.

One more thing about pick ups on Thursdays. Apparently, the general manager of the Philadelphian doesn't want us to park next to the loading dock anymore. He says he doesn't want to be liable for anyone waiting to pick up fish. He also said that Klein's is upset with the building for allowing us to stop there. Well, first of all, we park in the  street and people line up outside. But, for the sake of the peace, we will move our stop at the Philadelphian to that little triangle park that is bordered by 25th St, Fairmount Ave and Pennsylvania Ave. Hopefully, we won't hear it again from the building higher ups again. This will be the second we move to be accomodating to the General manager. I'm not sure it is accomodating to those picking up but, whatever.

So, fish. So many people have been asking for tuna and I've been telling everyone to be patient. The tuna hadn't been that beautiful of late. Well, it's getting nice now!! So, sushi grade tuna will be up for this week!! Also, Since you gotta hit it when it's hot, halibut fillet will be on as well!! Two big hitters makes it hard to choose. I know. But, hey. consider the alternative, as my dad used to always say. We have a couple of great recipes on our website, smallworldseafood.com.

Oysters this week will be coming from our friends from Rhode Island. Beaver Tails will be on the menu for this week!. For those who keep forgetting to order shucking knives, order shucking knives!

Mussels were a big hit. People really enjoyed the PEIs so we will stick with those for a while.

Well, here we are, folks. At the end of another meandering ramble. We covered a lot. I would love to get your feedback on what pick up hours would benefit you if you can't make the Thursday pick up times. You don't have to all email me back but you could let us know as you pick up. We will send out a survey next week for you to fill out regarding this but in the meantime, have a nice day, enjoy the weather and look out for the order form this Wednesday at 11am.

Thank you all for your support,

Robert Amar
