Week of May 23, 2022 Small World Seafood Update

First off, I know some of you are going to try to get out of dodge early to avoid shore traffic and such. If you would like to pick up Thursday in Fairmount or at the shop at 444 N 4th St, you can access the email and order form on our website. I post it there too starting at 11am Wednesday. For everyone else, your order form will be emailed to you as usual on Thursday at 9am.

Phew!!! Was it hot enough for ya?? Last year, it didn't really get hot til June. It's an early summer. It could be a hot one, people...Buuut, I can't complain about the cold and the heat. My grandmother used to always say, you can't complain about both. So, I will only pick the cold to complain about...

As most of you know, I like to try to do special things for the holiday weekend. Memorial Day weekend is coming up if you are too busy to notice...

So, we are getting our hands on more Jumbo soft shell crabs this week!! Yay! For those of you who went coocoo about them a few weeks back, here is a second shot at it. Remember two things. They will come to you cleaned meaning face off, gills removed and plate removed so ready to cook up. You gotta cook them up within two days. The other thing is that they freeze super well so if you wanted to stock up, this is the time to do it. Also, take a look at the Mark Bittman slow cook method for soft shells on our website. This will be the best recipe you use for the stuff.

Also coming along will be more fresh sushi grade albacore tuna! We are excited to have more of this delicious stuff. We have a few recipes on the site for it, too. The lesser known variety of tuna that is excellent for sushi, this isn't your canned fish kind...

Also on the docket, wild speckled trout from the Carolinas! We will be selling this fish filleted with the skin on. Now, we do leave the pinbones in because they pretty much dissolve when you cook the fillets but if you are squeamish about that, I posted a video on how to remove them very easily. Search for pinbone in the recipes tab. This fish is so good people..

Also, to keep things festive, we are bringing in more Red Galapagos lobster 6oz tails! These were such a hit for Mother's Day that we thought we would bring some back once again. Coming to you frozen so use them up anytime over the weekend, they are packed with a super sweet meat.

On the fun side of non-fish items, we will also do some dynamite smoke sausage from El Camino in Northern Liberties. A Ukrainian style Kielbasa and a Spanish style chorizo that is to die for. Fully cooked and just needing to reheat. Think about using it for paella or even a delish littleneck clam dish!

And since enough is never enough, how about more of that delish smoked Canadian bacon!! Yup. More goodness for all..

Oh, and more fresh Venezuelan Jumbo lump along with more fresh Hokkaido scallops. Both of these are actually going to drop a dollar in price. Hey, it ain't much but while everything else is going way up, this'll be a wee break.

Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week. Oysters will be Belles Du Jour from New Brunswick. Marinated fish is all in plus another shot of the seafood mix that many of you have been asking for more of.

All the other usual suspects are around too and don't forget our cocktail sauce.

And that's all I got..fun week, no? Hopefully it all comes in..Oy..

Look out for the order form Wednesday at 11am for Fairmount/444 N 4th St

Or Thursday at 9am for Fitler/Rittenhouse/Washington Sq

Peace
