March 30, 2022 Fairmount/444 N 4th St only Order Form

One quick not to start. Some of you have been in a rush to order and toggling off the wrong pick up location. Please make sure you select Fairmount OR 444 N 4th St.

Well, it is certainly fun spinning around in my imaginary teacup on this imaginary ride called life. Sometimes I feel giddy about it and sometimes I feel like I am gonna puke...hahaha...What a world and what a time we live in.. At least we have this and we have each other. Honestly..

Anyway, let's get on it. So, as mentioned earlier in the week, the featured fish this week is Jumbo fluke. Now, we've seen fluke before a few times but mostly medium flukes if you were wondering. Those are the nice small fillets. This is different. These fillets come from larger fish so the fillets are thicker. In fact, we have to cut them up to portion them. Remember how I mentioned that fluke was in the halibut family? Well, these look like like little halibuts. Some restos even use it and sell it as halibut if that fish ain't around. True story. Sears up beautifully, roasts wonderfully and is sushi grade so get your crudo on and don't forget the ponzu sauce!

Speaking of Jumbo, can we talk about that fresh Jumbo lump crab meat?? Those nuggets were huge!! Well, we got more this week and the price is holding! Glad to see crab meat reach bearable prices. Supermarkets are still selling pasteurized jumbo at over $55 per pound! Us, fresh at $33. Glad you found us, now, huh? This is great stuff from Venezuela. The shelf life is 7-10 days so enjoy it while it is around and affordable, I say.

And those scallops?? I think we've spoiled so many people with these amazing scallops from Hokkaido, Japan. These scallops sear up perfectly and are sushi grade!! If you've never, you should. If you have, well, you know.

Salmon from the Faroe Islands is certainly a treat compared to what they peddle in supermarkets. What a difference, right? I keep saying it, but this salmon is sushi grade so perfect for poke bowls. Roasted up in the oven, you will blow away your guests when they taste it.

Lastly, I told you that we were waiting on something fun and we finally got some. Now, a few of you have asked me about bringing in canned fish when it was a little bit of a rage over the past year. My feeling with it is that it's fine but it's still canned and...I don't know. However, one thing i absolutely love are Spanish marinated fish such as white anchovies and sardines. These are not the salty kind you find in tins. These are the flavorful, oil and vinegar marinated kind that you see in tapas places. So much fun to snack on. Perfect to roll out a quick appetizer for guests. I like to make some crostinis with bruschetta and top in off with one of these babies. I can eat a whole plateful myself!! Anyway, they come in 7oz trays and have a shelf life of 4 months if they last that long! Great European import we bring right to you.

One thing this company makes, as well, is marinated herring with dill. This is also never jarred or canned and is superb. Kosher as well so perfect for the holiday coming up or for whenever. They come in 1 pint containers and are just delish.

Clams are the shellfish of the week. A little smoked haddock remains if you want some, get it now. Our Mediterranean marinaded hot smoked salmon has been a big hit and we have more. Mycopolitan mushrooms are around again as are all the other usual suspects.

See? Told you we had fun stuff coming....

Anyway, have it people. Here is the order form. Don't forget to bring a bag! Don't forget to bring a bag! Don't forget to bring a bag!
