Week of December 23, 2024 - Small World Seafood Update

Hello everybody!!

I love the festive part of this time of year. The crazy running around and pressure to get everything done? Not so much. But, hey. What would the holidays be without both? Heaven...how boring...

Anyway, we will be doing our regular stuff this week and next on the regular days so look out for the order form this Wednesday.  This week is the purchasing for New year's eve stuff which is next Tuesday night. That week, we will have shop hours for the last minute people on Monday from 10am til 1pm.

But for this week, I thought it would be a good idea to have the item that everyone has been so amazing at preparing like a pro. Black Cod!!! We will have whole blast frozen sides ranging from 1.2-1.8lb each. A real showstopper when you make Miso Black Cod! Grab some of our miso glaze to make your life easy. Thaw the fish. Marinate for two days (trust me) in the miso glaze, then roast in the oven for 10 minutes and broil for 5 minutes. That's it! Nobu style and what a way to end the 2024!

We will not have fresh Faroe Island salmon this week due to the holiday. They are a family owned business and do the right thing by their people. So ,this week, we will have fresh sushi grade Steelhead Trout!!! This fish is absolutely delicious and a cousin of salmon actually. Fantastic for crudos and poke bowls and roasts up beautifully. You prepare it just like salmon.

For those who really have to have salmon, no question, we will have plenty of blast frozen Faroe Island salmon which is also sushi grade as well.

We will have hamachi loin!!! Skinless, boneless and just terrific to make a lovely crudo for a group of people..or just for yourself, I don't care. Thaw, slice thin, top off with sliced jalapenos and drizzle with some of our ponzu sauce. Easy peasy!

Another big hit of the year and quite seasonal, are Martha's Vineyard bay scallops! These little gems are sweet as just terrific for ceviches, risottos. What a great hors d'oeuvres!

We will continue lobster fest with more fresh claw and knuckle meat from Nova Scotia that we vac pack so they will have a 10 day shelf life in your fridge. Perfect for New Year's eve or day!

We have more of the South African lobster tails 5-6oz frozen which are the best of the best! Two per order!

We have more cod cheeks as well as more branzini butterflied. We will have whole daurades scaled and gutted for whole fish..

Lots of you really like the Maine oysters the past few weeks so this week we will go back there for more. We are bringing in Pleasant Coves from Maine. Another winner.

Llitleneck clams are the shellfish of the week.... We lonsa and smoked fish...So many good things...Herring will be back as well as kippered salmon and Osetra caviar..yum!

Plenty of cravb meat, shrimp, etc....

I know, I know..Lots of words...

Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...And if you won't see you this week, Merry Christmas, happy Hannukah to you and your family!
