August 24, 2022 Fairmount/444 n 4th St Order Form
Well, we can definitely feel the transition of the end of summer, end of vacations, starting of schools soon and pretty soon, some transition seafood too. For now, though, let's live in the moment and enjoy summer as it is!!
The first feature this week is beautiful swordfish from Canada! This is really the nice stuff. Now, you may have noticed the gas prices going down and that has affected pricing in some areas of seafood. Sword will be a little cheaper this week and we couldn't be happier to pass on the savings! (Cause that's what we do, baby!).
Swordfish is one of those meaty fish that works so well prepared any way you want. Grilled, poached, sauteed, roasted..And it takes to any flavoring too! It is a fish eaten all over the world so it definitely is loved. Take advantage, folks.
Another featured fish for this week that we offered at the last minute is some fresh flathead sole from Massachusetts. You will get it filleted skin off. It is quite delicious, firm in texture and each fillet averages around 6oz each so a perfect portion, really. Super easy to prepare and quickly, too!
Well, with the end of summer nigh and suppliers holding on to way more crab meat that they wanted to, prices are going down! You've seen supermarkets still selling it for super expensive. That's bullshit, as far as I'm concerned. We have a terrific supplier that produces excellent pasteurized crab meat in a can. We will be offering Jumbo Lump as well as Lump.
Now, some of you may be asking which is better. Depends on what you are making with it. The Jumbo lump will have large nuggets good for pasta or salads or crab cakes. The Lump is great for crab cakes as well as pasta with smaller pieces of crab but very flavorful. It's up to you really.
We have a nice shot of Ukranian sausage from El Camino for you this week! A kielbasa style, smoked and cooked through pork sausage that is excellent on it's own. or diced up to flavor, say, a nice sauce for your fish or shrimp or littleneck clams. Yum!
Salmon from the Faroe Islands is, well, gorgeous stuff. Just gorgeous. I know what your thinking. "Well, why don't you marry it?" Grow up..
And scallops from Hokkaido. Sushi grade and sear up perfectly. Is there anything tastier?
Anyway, that's all I got. It's been a hell of a fun summer fish-wise if you think about it. We ate good.
All the other usual suspects are around as well so have fun, take your time, hurry up and get your order in!
