December 1, 2022 Fit/Ritt/Wash Order Form
Well, it's that time of the year when time itself begins to accelerate as we race toward the next set of holidays. Before you know it, it'll be 2023...
Aaaanyway, could there be a better way to kick it off than Olive Oil Hunger Games?? For the newbies, we have a friend and customer in our neighborhood that owns a property in Bevagna, Italy called Villa Dei Sogni. He has 100 olive trees that produce a small batch of olive oil. The past couple of years, he would bring it over to Philly and bottle it for the community. We would sell it and it would sell out in under an hour causing many people to gather pitchforks and sickles in full outrage. Well, this year, we will implement a 1 BOTTLE PER ORDER rule. You can order more than one but will ONLY get one. No exceptions.
One of the great things about this olive oil is that it comes from one of us. This batch is also from a harvest 4 weeks ago so super fresh and fruity with some pepper on the finish. A great thing to drizzle on some cheese or on a plate for bread or to finish a dish. We want people to enjoy it with their family and friends or just be selfish and savor it yourself. In the end, it is just olive oil and not some miracle lubricant that will change your life. It's a good story, though, and no one else on the planet with get a taste of this olive grove's bounty. Be civil people...
Onto fish. The first feature will be the great walleye fillet from Lake Superior in Canada. You don't see this fish very much outside of the Midwest. It is quite delicious. A firm white, flaky fish with tons of flavor. It comes skin on and boneless. You can dredge and pan fry, you can make a beer batter and deep fry for a terrific fish and chips, you can simply roast in the oven with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, lemon, parsley at 425F for 12-15 minutes. Just delish!!
Second up is fresh haddock fillets from Massachusetts. Haddock is considered to be the prince of the cod family. Smaller, firmer with a sweeter flavor than its big cousin, this fish is really simply wonderful. Similar preparations to the walleye above. A very easy fish to eat.
One additional feature this week will be the return of Mycopolitan mushrooms. These mushrooms are grown and harvested right here in Philadelphia. You get a variety of really fresh, tasty mushrooms like you won't see in any supermarket. We are happy to see them back in the fold.
As mentioned in the earlier email, we will add two frozen items to the mix. One is blast frozen cooked claw and knuckle meat lobster from Nova Scotia. We will have that for the rest of the month. Tis the season, right? Also, we will have blast frozen whole scaled and gutted duarade vac packed two to a bag. For the whole fish lovers..Also, barramundi is back on for another frozen fish..
Plenty of Faroe Island salmon fillet. Sushi grade and melt in your mouth good when roasted. We have Hokkaido scallops, also sushi grade and sear up perfectly. We have Salmon Char Siu made using our salmon and cured and smoked by El Camino in Northern Liberties. Amazing stuff.
And don't forget your frozen shrimp, pasteurized crab meat (good in the fridge for a year) and condiments and sauces...And dog treats...
All the other usual suspects are around as well so have fun, take your time, hurry up and get your order in!
Here is the order form. Bring a bag! Bring a bag! Bring a bag!
