Week of November 28, 2022 Small World Seafood Update (Copy)
Hello, everybody!! Back to the real world for everyone!! Good timing, too. I've been eating so much the past few days..Ugh..How can one be full all the time and hungry at the same time? I think that's like one of those 'one hand clapping' things...Who knows..
Anyway, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving long weekend. I hope family wasn't too harsh on some. We learned a lot last week from having walk ins come in on Monday and Tuesday. I think that this may be something we add to our mix to give you another option if you can't make it to pick up on Thursdays or Fridays. Maybe a Saturday morning 8-1pm at the shop kind of thing. Stay tuned!
We also learned that everybody really loves lobster meat. So, for the rest of the month, we will be selling lobster meat vac packed and blast frozen by us. Hey, we are continuing with the holiday cycle so why not, right?
Also, so many of you really loved the blast frozen and vac packed whole daurade so we brought more in for you all. Hopefully, we can sell a blast frozen whole fish every week. That would be nice too.
As a special feature fish this week, we will be bringing in fresh haddock fillet from our friends in New England. This is such a great fish to roast in the oven with some olive oil, garlic, salt, lemon, parsley at 425F for 12 minutes. Or, dredge and pan fry. Or deep fry to make a posh fish and chips. Yes, posh, because the pubs that use haddock instead of cod show their refinement.
The second feature is a fish we've been waiting for a while .weather is getting colder in the Great Lakes and the fish are getting fished. Walleye fillet, that is!!! This fish from fresh waters is part of the Midwest way of life. Whether it is a memory of fishing for it or simply eating it out in a local resto out there, this super tasty, firm white flaky fish comes to you filleted and boneless. If you've never had it, have it.
And now comes the moment of the year where we have to talk about offering something that has caused more people to get upset from selling out than anything we've ever sold. Olive oil. So, one of our customers owns a villa in Bevagna, Italy called Villa Dei Sogni. He has and olive grove and just got back with this year's harvest and cold press. Now, every year we sell out so quickly because there isn't enough to go around and people buy a bunch for gifts. This year, we will limit one bottle per person. You can order more than one but you will only get ONE. Please don't try to game the system here.
The point of this olive oil is to savor the harvest of a single plot. Enjoy it yourselves with you family and friends. Or just yourself. It is olive oil. Not a magic potion. Enjoy the harvest for what it brings..
Plenty of Faroe Island salmon fillet, Hokkaido scallops, crab meat and other goodies. Can't wait to see you all. I missed you last week..
And that's it for today. I know, I know, lots of words. But, hey, lots of info too, no?
Peace
Robert Amar
