Dec 9, 2021 Fitler/Rittenhouse/Washington Sq only order form
**I am sending this out early today because I have to address something and I hope you will at least read this paragraph before you click on the order form which will only go live starting at 9am. You know what happens to stocks when they either dive or shoot up? The exchange shuts down trading. Well, we had that happen yesterday with the olive oils. Unfortunately, even though I ask people to limit to three but only get one so as many people as possible can get some, we ended up selling out in 14 minutes for that group and tons of people did not get any. Now, I am sending this out early so that you can all take a deep breathe and we can limit this experience to a controlled chaos. So, this is the deal. Clearly I cannot trust human nature so I am limiting the oil to one per person. No exceptions!! Don't cry about it, please. There are plenty of other gifts to send to people. Get this one for yourself and share it. How about that? You can try to order more than one. YOU WILL ONLY GET ONE! Think of your neighbors and friends. I would love to do this again but won't if it brings out the worst in us.*****
The next few weeks are going to be so much fun. We have a lot of cool things for you coming up.
This week starts off with a cool discovery from last year. You see, one of our neighbors, Matt, told us about how frustrated his father was not to be able to get back to Italy for a few months. They own an estate there in Bevagna, Umbria called Villa Dei Sogni. On said estate, they produce a small quantity of olive oil from their small olive grove. Since they couldn't meet up with people last year, we offered it up so that you all can taste a little of Italy. Good news is that Tom was able to get back there this year and returned with the 2020 harvest oil. He bottled them up again. Now, we have a few more than last year but PLEASE just get one!!!. Don't be greedy, be selfish. We will cap it at 1 per order and that is firm. We would like everyone to try to get some this year. Thanks.
The next cool thing we have is a little project we did with our smoking friends at El Camino Real. So, remember the albacore from last week? Yeah, well we took some over to have cured and smoked and made an amazing dip out of it. This spread has some finely minced peppers, onion, chives, garlic aioli and it just out of this world. Fresh from us to you. Try it and tell us what you think. Smoked Tuna spread. Mmmmm..
Fish for the week is focused on the Mediterranean, I suppose. Well, why not, right? If we can't see the sunshine, we can certainly eat it. So, Branzini from Greece!! We will be selling them two ways. The first is butterflied which means head off, bone out but still attached at the tail. You can pan sear them, stuff them and roast them or how about using one of our cedar planks on the grill for those who grill year round?
We will also sell them whole, scaled and gutted and cleaned for those who like it that way. Try some of our Mediterranean marinade if you haven't yet. Explosion of flavor and remember that marinade has no salt so you will need to season to taste. As always, we have very nice recipes on our website.
The salmon of the week from the Faroe Islands once again. We love this salmon, right? Sushi grade, melts in your mouth when roasted and adores our miso glaze as well as our Mediterranean marinade. Just saying. It's true. it's really true.
Clams this week will comes two ways as well. We will be selling our delicious live fresh littlenecks but will also be selling chopped clams in their juice in frozen pints. The latter is for those who want to make chowders or fritters or pastas but don't want to deal with the shells and all. No judgement here. In fact, these chopped clams are restaurant quality and each pint is packed with meat. Excellent stuff.
Lastly, everyone has been so hankering for crab meat that we are offering another type this week. Crab meat is so tight and expensive but sometimes we can find the value item in the mix. This week, we will have a limited amount of pasteurized lump crab meat in a can. This meat comes from blue crabs and is processed in Thailand. Just delicious stuff.
Lastly lastly, oysters this week are Pemaquids from Maine. Big meaty oysters. Shrimp shumai are around and can't wait to take a dip into our ponzu sauce. All other usual suspects are around too. Also, Mycopolitan mushrooms too!!
And that's all I got. Phew! Sometimes I come close to losing my breathe I get so excited! Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Here is the order form
