AUGUST 9, 2021 SMALL WORLD UPDATE

 Hello everyone!!

Well, you know it's a 'Small World' when you meet a new customer and they tell you that they know your brother.....who lives in Jerusalem!! He's a tour guide there..too funny..

It's been nice to see people back from their vacations and wishing people off on theirs coming up. Lots of travelling around to domestic places. We definitely see people coming back jonesing for good seafood they couldn't find where they went. Nice to be back home, huh?

So, last week was about new stuff we haven't done before. This week will be about some favorites we haven't seen for a bit.

First off is a fish we haven't seen in quite a while. Fresh halibut fillet! Yes! A few fishing regions up in Nova Scotia have opened up and a whole bunch are coming in! This fish is, well, probably the most popular fish on a lot of restaurant menus. Why, you ask? Well, besides the fact that many people love it, it is one of the few fish a restaurant can charge a ton for and it still sells. We, on the other hand, can pull back the curtain on the wizard. Instead of paying $34-$40 for a 7oz portion in a restaurant, you will pay $36 for two pounds. Enough to feed 4-5 people!! I think that is quite deal, quite a steal.

Second off is the deeelicious Spanish mackerel fillet! For those who are new to this, this is  the fish that surprised the most people. Kind of looks a bit like a branzino fillet with a more intense flavor toward trout or fresh sardine. Just amazing. From our neighbors in the Carolinas, this fish is also great for crudos, ceviches as it is sushi grade. Or, you can use our miso glaze on this sucker and grill it up. Wow!! We have a a couple of recipes on the website for you to check out. That red curry recipe is fire! (That's how they say 'hot' nowadays..)

Speaking of sushi grade stuff, the salmon of the week will be Arctic Char fillets. So many have fallen in love with this fish and no wonder. Buttery, mild in flavor, easy to cook. Just amazing. Great for pokes, maki rolls, and of course, that miso glaze! Marinate for 24 hours and broil or bake or grill it up. Friggin amazing.

Clams will be the shellfish of the week. Oysters will be something from PEI. Not sure yet. Shrimp shumai are still on the menu. Octopus is here. Eel is on. Kippered salmon will be on in addition to the other regular smoked stuff. Oh yeah, don't forget your pet treats..those are a hit with the beasts.

I don't have any deep thoughts this week about anything. I think my brain is just hurting from all nonsense that has been happening over the past year and a half. It's times like these that my mantra or prayer, if you will, becomes more important for my life in this seemingly out of control universe. The Serenity Prayer. Lordy, I could use some serenity, courage and a little wisdom..we all could. We all need it..

Anyway, look out for the form this Wednesday at 11am.

Peace
