JUNE 30, 2021 FAIRMOUNT/444 N 4TH ST ORDER FORM FOR THURS PICK UP
HELLO EVERYBODY!!!!
Well, this is the last week before we break for a week. We have lots of goodies for you and even something for your pet! Hey, their part of the fam too.
First on the agenda is Steelhead trout fillets. No Atlantic salmon this week but this cousin has been a great surprise to many who have tried it for the first time with us and absolutely loved it!! It is sooo good!!.And, it is sushi grade so perfect for poke bowls, sushi rolls or crudos. Looks like salmon, tastes like trout. A real wow!
We got a little lucky with a shot of swordfish from our friends up in Canada! Yes, this amazing fresh swordfish is so creamy and delicious. Perfect for the grill but also can be pan seared or, dare I say, cubed up and poached in a Thai green curry...yuuuuuumm..
Next up, fresh lobster meat! So many of you have been asking about when more would come around. Lobster has been ridiculously expensive. Some of you vacationing up in Maine have been sending us picks of lobster prices up there. $18.99lb for whole 1 1/4lb lobsters. Wow! At a yield of 20%, that comes out to $95lb of meat!! Now, to be fair, they are selling cooked meat at $65lb but you get it cheaper from us. A little resto trick to mention here. If you are a little skittish about the cost of it, one thing restaurants do when prices spike is get creative. I recommend to mix the lobster with a pound of our 26/30 shrimp which you can cook off. Once you mix it, you've blended $54lb with $9.5lb and end up with a mix that averages to $32lb. Now, you can make twice the number of rolls which should cost out at $6-8 a piece. Nifty, no?
By the way, you can freeze any of the fresh stuff if necessary. Freeze early in plastic wrap.
To throw a whole bunch of stuff for you to cram in you already full freezers, we have Unagi 9oz, shrimp shumai, Spanish octopus and that delicious smoked sausage from El Camino Real in Nolibs. Clams are the shellfish of the week. OMG with that sausage. Thatch Islands are the oyster of the week from the Cape. Frozen cod is replacing the frozen mahi. Oh, and nori sheets for those who want to make rolls..
Lastly, animal treats. We teamed up with Melmo's Treats in Philly to convince them to use some of our leftover trim and scraps. They indulged and can up with these marvelous treats that combine fish with spent grain from Love City Brewing plus some flaxseed and spices. Now, they made them as dog treats but Mel assures me that they are great for felines too. We've been sampling them out the past few weeks to great reviews..
Anyway, lots of recipes on the website. Lots of things to load up on. And if you are out of town and reading this, have a happy 4th! Here is the order form.
