JUNE 14, 2021 FAIRMOUNT/444 N 4TH WEEKLY UPDATE

 HELLO EVERYBODY!!!!

This week, we prepare for Father's day weekend! This is the lesser of the parental honorifics, typically. That being said, I think we should put in a little effort to celebrate all the men out there that have been good influences on us. They could be fathers but the could also be uncles, neighbors, mentors, teachers, gurus or whatever. As important as there nurturance and love from our mothers, the guidance and understanding from our fathers is also important.

I remember how after I had my first child, people would ask "What's it like for you to be a father, now?" That question kind of confused me. You see, the reality was that I started becoming a father when I found out we were having a baby. For the next 9 months, all I could think about was how I was going to be a father to my child. I would be doing things like shaving and transport back to memories of my father giving me a shaver without the blade as a kid so that I could remove the foam alongside him in the bathroom. I would tie my shoes and wonder how I would teach my child to do it. Bunny ears? Straight to single loop? hahaha...just a million moments until the baby was born. I will never forget that process not only for preparing me for fatherhood but for bringing me and my father closer together.

Anyway, this week, we will feature some celebratory items. First off, South African lobster tails! By now most of you know how expensive lobster is. Even lobster rolls up in Maine are now selling for up to $34 each!! I got my hands on some of these beauties. 4.5-5oz tails packed full of meat and to per order. Yum!!

Next up, sooo many people had so much fun with preparing Spanish octopus that we will do it again!! Everyone has been commenting on how easy it actually is to prepare and it is. A couple of great recipes can be found on our website.

For a fish, we got lucky and managed to rassle up some beautiful Kingklip! This fish is very popular in the Southern hemisphere. The most popular fish in South Africa, actually. In South America, is is known as Congrio. The fish is pristine coming filleted, skin off and boneless. To compare it to a fish you may be more familiar with, it is very similar to grouper fillet. When we featured it a couple of months ago, many of you adored it. Well, it's back!

Also back is Atlantic salmon! Yes, what many of you refer to as 'regular' salmon is finally going down in price and quality is finally going up!

Clams will be the shellfish of the week. Oysters will be a surprise. Not sure quite yet. Added to the smoked fish items this week will be kippered salmon (hot smoked salmon so cooked through as opposed to cured). Frozen Snow crab meat is back as well.

Aaaand, speaking of surpirses, we will be featuring a couple of fun things for the weekend. One will definitely be frozen brioche dough from our friend CJ, owner of OUI Pastries in Old City. Use it to make challahs, burger buns or cinnamon rolls. Yeah, cinnamon rolls...yuuuummmm!!!

Anyway, this will be a fun week of seafood for all. Remember that these emails will also be posted on our website so if you don't receive our emails for some reason, you can go over there and get the same thing under the 'weekly emails' tab.

Look out for the order form Wednesday at 11 am.

Peace,
