 HELLO EVERYBODY!!

Groundhog says 6 more weeks of winter?? Yeah, March 21. Got it, genius..

Aaaanyway, things got a little tough out there as far as receiving fish. Everyone thought Boston would be shut down earlier this week which it did. They got a couple of inches. The whole gravy train ground to a halt and had to start over again. Boston is a key point in the distribution chain bringing everything from New England and further north down to us. Those trucks need to always be moving. But, we did get what we need.

Spanish mackerel looks beautiful!! We love this fish. It is so flavorful and versatile. Kind of like a more flavorful bronzino or trout fillet. Skin on and bone out.

The halibut also looks amazing. It is truly rare to get nice halibut that also happens to be cheaper right now. Usually, it is very expensive at this time of year. You could see it priced in the mid to high $20 for fillet right about now. With a several boats all coming in with big hauls just in time for a snowstorm to shut everything down, the price dropped faster than a share of Gamestop this week. So we jumped on it. These are dayboats to boot, not long haulers. Better fish. Also, think about next week (Valentine's day). Good fish to freeze. Just sayin'. Check out the recipe on the website, please. it is really good. Keep the skin on as well. It holds everything together. You can take it off afterward. Chef's tip.

Along with these two fine fish, the salmon looks gleaming this week. Nice fish. Mussels are the shellfish of the week. Oysters are Thatch Islands from the Cape. These oysters are a little bigger and packed with flavor. Great for slurping but equally great for a Rockefeller kind of thing.

Puff pastry (ouipastries.com) is the extra feature of the week.  Great posts tagged to our insta page @smallworldseafood. Lots of mushroom/onion tarts. Mmmmm. Also, don't forget, the following weekend is Valentine's Day and we will be doing things lobster again. Lobster tails from South Africa this time(more on that on Tuesday), fresh lobster meat and lobster stock. Puff pastry could be a nice thing to have on hand for, say, a Newburg kind of thing.

Anyway, I know everyone is eager to order. Good luck on your Super Bowl squares. See you tomorrow. Here is the link:
