 HELLO EVERYONE!!

What an amazing week last week was. Sushi grade tuna for Pokes and tartares, haddock for baking and frying and cheese. Yup. Cheese. You gotta check out some of the pics tagged to @smallworldseafood on instagram. It was really cool to be able to feature our friend in West Philly who also wholesales to restaurants as well as some direct to consumer stuff. It was such a hit that we will do it again next week (not this one) with a different selection curated by Ann. Why not, right? How can you say no to cheese? It's like saying no to a child or a puppy. Sinful in a bad way. Buying cheese? Sinful in a good way. Go figure....

We are lining up a few other people that do cool stuff. These little bubbles that we live and consume in could use a little injection of something from another bubble. We don't wan't to get bored, right? Once we work out the details, we will let you know. Promise.

The early part of the week in the markets is rather thin on fish. Lots of heavy winds up the coast have limited boat outings over the weekend. So i have no idea what we will do this week but I am looking to the South for help here. maybe something from the Carolinas or the Gulf. Stay for this week's selection. Just know that we will be going with mussels this week and oysters will be Raspberry Points out of PEI. Also, we will go off frozen mahi and back to frozen cod loin for a bit.

On a more philosophical note, i was talking to my neighbor, Gina, last week comparing notes on how things were going with back to school stuff with the kids and work stuff for us. I hadn't seen her in a bit. It was easy to slip into the more negative elements that have clouded things this year. As we started to get each other super depressed, I decided to point out some of the positives just to lift us out of it. I noted that we were certainly running around frantically a lot less. We were spending much more time within our community whether it was with our kids, spouses and/or neighbors. We were talking to each other more. In fact, I don't remember my neighborhood ever being this connected. People doing yoga behind the Penitentiary, kids riding their bikes, neighbors helping out neighbors. There was a lot to be appreciative of.

I don't want to take anything away from what we should be worrying out right now but I think it can be extremely easy to miss the good that can emerge. I told her that is was kind of like a beautiful mushroom growing out of a pile of shit. Yeah, that's what a lot of these things feel like. A beautiful mushroom popping out of a heap of manure. Don't you feel better now? Hmmm...I don't think she did either. I need to work on my analogies, I suppose. I didn't want to use the silver lining one. Cliche.

Look out for the order form on Wednesday at 11am

Best,

Robert Amar
