Week of October 7, 2024 - Small World Seafood Update

Hello everybody!!

It's amazing what a little sunshine can do for the spirit. What gorgeous weather this past weekend. And a couple of near heart attacks from the Phillies games..Wow...Some of you may know that I am pretty thick in following Premier League football(British soccer league). I think I know why. I really don't have any skin in the game for any team in particular so I can watch it endlessly with a love of the sport. I can enjoy the game. When I watch the Phils or Eagles or any local team play, my heart is up in my throat. The emotional rollercoaster can be a little much. It's kind of like watching your friends kids play little league ball. The kids are adorable and you enjoy watching them play as a team and grow their character. But when YOUR kid is playing.....

Anyway, let's get to the fish! The waters from Canada to North Carolina are filled with tuna catches this week! This time, we will go a little South to our friends in North Carolina who have managed to get a nice shot of small bigeye tunas! Bigeyes are deeper red in color and usually more flavorful than their cousin yellowfin. This is the type of tuna that you see in pics as deep red. Sushi grade and we are lucky to get some! Take advantage! It only comes around two or three times a year! For those celebrating Yom Kippur this Firday night and Saturday, this is a great break fast item to make, a nice big bowl of tuna tartare...

We reloaded with more branzini this week for you all. Butterflied, meaning head off and boneless. Two fish per pack, blast frozen and vac packed. We also got more daurades for you also directly from Greece. Scaled and gutted whole fish blast frozen and vac packed. Great stuff...

We have more blast frozen bluefish for anyone who wants more. I love how popular it's been!

Our Faroe Island salmon that can't be matched, honestly. So good and sushi grade, to boot. Same with our Hokkaido scallops. Great to sear up and great to slice up and eat raw as well. That is the case of both whether it is fresh or blast frozen, by the way. Still sushi grade.

We have more smoked albacore tuna spread, more kippered salmon (hot smoked), and smoked salmon and whitefish salad for the big break fast for thow who are fasting for Yom Kippur on Saturday.

For a couple of fun features, we thought it would be nice to honor October with...wait for it...sausages!!!! So, Owen at El Camino in NoLibs has made two different ones for us. Both are smoked and cooked through so all you have to do is heat them up on the grill, oven or pan. The first one is an all beef smoked pastrami sausage and the other is a smoked Ukranian pork kielbasa!! Both are delish on their own but, of course, you can use them with mussels, with shrimp, in a chowder...Oh, and don't forget your hot dogs. I hear it's good luck to eat them while the Phils are playing...

PEI mussels are the shellfish of the week. These would go great with some fresh organic linguini from Settantatre !!... Not sure about oysters yet.... We have bacon and lonsa and smoked fish...So many good things...

I know, I know..Lots of words...

Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
