Week of October 28, 2024 - Chestnut Hill Farmer's Market Order Form

Hello everybody!!

Like I stated earlier in the week, seafood sales generally are down in week with Halloween. Not for us, though. If restos are slower, we are busier. People need to eat and are making a choice to do it at home. You can make what you like, when you want to make it and it's cheaper. Especially if you can get the same or better ingredients to do that with. Which I suspect you know you can with us. And it isn't lost on me that week in and week out, you guys come to us bag in hand and we fill it with seafood. Halloween for adults! But all year round...too funny!!

So, let's start things off with some gorgeous sushi grade bigeye tuna!!! This is the deeper red variety that makes every pic shine for Insta. And it is delish as well! From local boats up in Maine, this is a great time of year for this variety. Take advantage while you can, people. Bigeyes don't run around here very often..

We also have some ghoulish hamachi kamas!!! The collars of the fish, also known as yellowtail in sushi spots, is prized for it's amazing flavor. But don't take my word for it. Everyone who has had it was blown away. You get 4 collars in a pack averaging about 1.5lb total plus or minus for all four. So, one is great as an appetizer or two for a meal. So easy to roast up in the oven. Salt, pepper, olive oil, 450F oven for 12 minutes, broil for 3 minutes and the best finger food up there with crispy chicken thighs..trust me...

We got lucky with another nice shot of cod cheeks so more for you all this week. Hoepfully, we can see a steady stream coming through the winter. We also got a nice shot of Martha's Vineyard bay scallops!! As stated, supply is up, prices are down. Yay!! So these babies are now $25 per half pound instead of $30. That is a huge drop!

And speaking of drops in prices, fresh Jumbo lump crab meat from Venezuela is way down as well! From $38 down to $32!! Noe that's a big win if there ever were one. And considering this week's fresh pasta is ogre guts, I mean spinach linguini, come on...

We have a new oyster vendor we are adding to the fam this week from Maine! Mom and pops cultivating some really great oysters. So excited for these. We are starting with Pine Points from the Nonesuch River. You gotta let me know what you think. If you guys like them, we will add them to the rotation.

And, some great blast frozen options just for you guys are also on the docket so have at it!!

Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week along with PEI mussels. Grab some pasta and cook away. Best cheap meal ever. Savage Blonds are the oysters this week from PEI. Exciting. These babies are just plump and juicy...

See what I mean?? All this good to stuff to choose from.... Life is good...

And don't forget your frozen shrimp and condiments and sauces...And dog treats for doggies...

I know, I know. Lots of words but, hey, consider the alternative...

Here is the order form. Bring a bag! Bring a bag! Bring a bag!
