Week of March 24, 2025 - Bryn Mawr Farmers Market Order Form

Hello everybody!!

Well, some really fun stuff this week and a nice special on bagels! So, for those looking for gefilte fish logs for Passover, we got 'em. For the past five years, we've been bringing in frozen logs of gefilte fish from Raskins in Brooklyn. These are no filler and kosher for Passover. They need to be baked in the oven. Instructions are on the package. They have been so popular because they are so damn good. This is not the jarred stuff..Each log is 20oz and typically feeds anywhere from 6-10 people depending on how much they like it. This will make your Seder...back to the menu...

First up, Greenland turbot fillets!!! This magnificent flat fish is truly one of those fish that when people have it, they fall in love with it..Bone white, creamy, melts in your mouth...So good simply roasted in an oven at 425F for 12 minutes or try your hand at poaching in it a nice fish broth. We have a video for that...

Instead of Faroe Island salmon which is not avialable this week (we do have it blast frozen for the diehards), we have the so very beautiful Steelhead trout from Norway!! This fish looks similar to salmon and is, in fact, a cousin of it. It is also the prefered salmonoid in Scandinavia for sushi and curdos over salmon. Yes, it is sushi grade. Thety love it for its fattiness and we do too! Cooks up similarly to salmon as well so a great substitute that doesn't require much culinary rewiring of the brain....If you haven't tried it yet, please do. Your next favorite thing lurks around the corner...

I don't know if we can ever take the Black cod (also known as sablefish) of this list ever again but here we are with another week of it! Grab some of our miso to make some Miso Black Cod, Nobu style. Everybody's doing it!!

Plus, some larger South African tails this week. 5.5oz each. Nice and meaty and so sweet and tender...I have a great recipe on our site for how to prepare them by splitting them and searing in a pan. Here's another idea. Prepare it that way and make a lobster roll out of each tail's meat! Yup. This size makes the perfect portion!

We have a nice shot of branzini butterflied back in the mix plus some whole Daurades, scaled and gutted. Some herring, some mackerel, rock shrimp, bay scalloops...wow...

And back to the bagel thing. Seems like a misunderstanding back at Kismet Bagels on how many bagels we wanted. We asked for 100 bags (400 bagels). They made 400 bags. Oopsie...Anyway, we talked to them about it and decided that the best thing to do is discount the price! So, instead of $10 per bag, you pay $8 per bag!! That is quite a deal, quite a steal!!! Load up people!!! These are fantastic bagels. And parbaked so that all you need to do is finish them off in a 400F toaster oven or air fryer for 6-8 minutes depending on how crispy you want it! Just like freshly baked bagels but at home!

Littleneck clams and PEI mussels are the shellfish of the week. Pine Points are the oysters from Maine this week. Nice and plump.

And Puff pastry dough from Oui Pastries is back!

See what I mean?? All this good to stuff to choose from.... Life is good...

And don't forget your frozen shrimp and condiments and sauces...And dog treats for doggies...

I know, I know. Lots of words but, hey, consider the alternative...

Here is the order form. Bring a bag! Bring a bag! Bring a bag!
