Week of September 30, 2024 - Small World Seafood Update

Hello everybody!!

Well, I heard a rumor that the sun exists but I won't believe it til i see it for myself. Ugh..First thing's first, we are opening up the shop for store hours today and tomorrow from 10am til 2pm for anyone who needs anything last minute for the Jewish holiday or if you just want to come by because you have time. We're here. For those of you I won't see who are celebrating, Shana Tovah!

That massive hurricane that hit the South was devastating to witness. My heart really goes out to the people who lost so much from it. The system also affected the fishing up and down the coast as you can certainly imagine. So, it is a little hard to know what, indeed, we will feature this week. But, something always comes together even if it does at the last minute. There may be some really cool stuff so stay tuned...

In the meantime, I can tell you that we have more branzini butterflied from Greece. We bring it in directly, butterfly them, meaning head off and boneless. Wonderful item for your home. I mean, considering that you would pay over $35 for a a fish in a resto, at $11 each, you beat the market big time.

Also, as I often say, if you can't see the sun, eat it! So, we brought in some small whole red mullets! Known in Greece as barbouni, this is one fish that will definitely make you think of sunshine!! We scale and gut them and pack them in one pound bags. You get four to six fish per pound. Great on the grill or roasted in the oven or simply just a light dredge and fried in a pan!! And by the way, the French call this fish 'rouget' so if you are more familiar with that...

We also have frozen hamachi loins!! Also known as yellowtail in soosh restos, this is the good stuff! Boneless, skinless, around 1.5lb each plus or minus. Killer crudos, ceviches, poke bowls...For some of you, it may seem like a big quantity but this is what I would do. Use half for raw eating and then bake off the rest! That fish is unbelievable cooked. Trust me on this one. Now you got two different meals out of it.

We also have some gorgeous small bluefish fillets. This is such a popular fish with you guys. We love that. We also blast freeze them right away in order to preserve its freshness and flavor. Great stuff. Holds up so well to strong seasoning such as our spice blends. Good stuff.

Our Faroe Island salmon that can't be matched, honestly. So good and sushi grade, to boot. Same with our Hokkaido scallops. Great to sear up and great to slice up and eat raw as well. That is the case of both whether it is fresh or blast frozen, by the way. Still sushi grade.

We have more smoked albacore tuna spread, more kippered salmon (hot smoked), and a few other goodies on tap as well...

Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week. These would go great with some fresh organic linguini from Settantatre !!... Not sure about oysters yet.... We have bacon and lonsa and smoked fish...So many good things...

I know, I know..Lots of words...

Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
