Week of Jan 17, 2022 Update
Boy, this weather..
Well, another difficult week with my seafood crystal ball. I keep giving it the ole Fonzarelli bump on the side of it like we used to do to our old tv sets but it's just giving me fuzz....So, still working on what to do for this week. As many of you understand by now, the fishing up and down the Eastern seaboard would obviously be affected by this nasty weather with high winds so we have to wait a bit to see what shakes out in the next day or two. Omicron is affected everything globally right now, too, especially in the Northeast (although numbers are starting to go down) and Europe with call outs so logistics can be affected too. Just a weird time...
So, what are we going to talk about? Well, I think a lot of you really liked the cheese from last week and the kippered salmon. I also see that the crab clusters were a big hit! So tasty and delish. Yummy.
You know, a year ago I talked about the Chinese New Year coming. Last year, we were going into the Year of the Ox. Dependable, persistent hard work and unstoppable. We were also getting into a part of this crisis where vaccines were beginning to become available and we needed to persist in our collective will to protect ourselves and others. We slogged through the year being careful and cautious with an eye on the end. We moved forward slowly through the muddy year with the yoke of responsibility around our necks. Imagine that. That was only a year ago.
This year, we are going into the Year of the Tiger in early February. This year, according to the Chinese horoscope, will bring us courage and impulsiveness and strength. This is the year we repair ourselves in body but especially in mind and transform from the dutiful to the powerful. This is the year that we begin to learn how to live with Covid in our lives without the same fear we had a year ago much less the year before that. It is encouraging to see that the vast amounts of immunity we have all accumulated through either vaccine or sickness (or both) have resulted in much lower hospitalizations and deaths in the face of absolutely massive surges in infections from Omicron. That is good news, people. Very good news.
This year, we will be like the Tiger and develop the courage to be strong and confident about living again and I am referring to living with joy and confidence and not living with fear. Let this be the year that ends up with all of us shaking a leg on the dance floor, going to recitals and shows, travelling abroad, hugging each other and shaking hands, and above all, sleeping better at night. This is what I wish for you all and for all of us too. This is what I imagine things will look like by the end of 2022 and this video is a perfect thing for me to practice some moves. ...here's to hope!
