JULY 6, 2021
I hope everyone had a nice 4th of July weekend! Yet one more holiday that we get to experience in a somewhat normal way. It is certainly nice to see.
We picked a great time to shut down for a week. Salmon is super expensive and short on supply. Not many new items hitting the markets. Most of the fishermen are recovering from massive hangovers and are beginning to think about going out but tropical storm Elsa will be making its way up the coast. Although we tend to look at the path of the storm itself as it relates to our lives, it is the storm surges and rough waters from Florida making its way to us that affects the fishermen. All this to say, not many great catches in a week like this. So, time to work through your frozen stock of fish. I would say eat more chicken but that has become pretty expensive and am I the only one who has noticed the quality of chicken going down recently?
Anyway, since my mind isn't occupied with thinking about what we will carry this week, I've decided to just be dumb dumb. Spending the week down in Brigantine with my lovely wife and enjoying some time together. So many of us have really learned to appreciate the time we spend with our loved ones. Some haven't been able to until recently. Some still can't because of international restrictions.
I guess what I am trying to say is that we can be preoccupied at times with what we don't have and what is missing. In those moments, we could be missing what is right in front of us. Often times in life, we have to be content with what we have and put aside our yearning for what we want. We've made so many compromises this past year like that. So much so that some of us are in a permanent state of poopy face.
The compassionate part of me wants to offer sympathy. The rebellious part of me wants to rage. The zen part of me just thinks that bad energy is good for nothing. So, how do you clear the mind? You combine it all, I suppose..Enjoy the break..
