JANUARY 21, 2021

 HELLO EVERYONE!!!

Well, yesterday was a day that may bring a lot of relief to a lot of people. Personally, it was pretty amazing to witness a woman being sworn in. History in the making. Political positions aside, I am looking forward to four years of Nice Grandpa instead of Bitter Grandpa. Ushering in the Year of the Ox can't come soon enough...

We have absolutely gorgeous swordfish caught in the Carolinas. The fish from this area are best at this time of year when waters are much colder. In the summer and fall, we go far north for them. Winter is all about the Carolinas. For those who haven't tried our swordfish, do so. This is what great sword tastes like. For those who know already, well, you know. We have some great recipes on our site, smallworldseafood.com for sword. One neat way to cook sword is technique whereby you sear the sword and then finish in a sauce. This here is swordfish puttanesca. You can keep the fillets whole instead of cubing them. It's up to you.

Next, fluke is back and we are so happy!! The winter is really the best time to enjoy this fish coming from the Jersey boats. The fish are not migrating, spawning or recovering from spawn. They are just eating in cold waters and fattening up. The result is more flavorful fillets that can even be eaten as sushi. it is that fresh and delicious.

Oh yeah. Mushrooms will be back next week for you all.

We are featuring puff pastry again this week. Yay!! We sold them a few months ago and lots of you have been asking for more. These frozen sheets of puff pastry made by our friend CJ from Oui Pastries in Old City (ouipastries.com) are fantastic for home use. You can really up your game with making puff shells for your sauteed mushrooms or even attempt a Salmon Wellington. Why not use the left over trim and brush it with parsley butter for a savory side snack. Here's that Wellington recipe.

The last thing we are featuring is something we plan on carrying going forward. Many of you have been asking us for tote bags so we've had some made. They are foldable and super light. What we plan on doing with these bags is taking $2 for every bag and donating that to various organizations that have been hit by Covid. For a few weeks, we will be giving the extras to Koresh Dance Company. Many of you have guessed that i love dance and i especially loved going to the theater to see it. They need help like so many other dance companies in the city. So, we want to help.  So can you. No pressure, though. if you have bags already, you can still donate $2 separately. We will match those donations for an added incentive.

Oysters this week are Irish Points. Mussels are back in style. Bay scallops are back. Smoke Trout fillets are back as well.

So much for keeping this short, huh??

Here is the order form.
