HELLO EVERYONE!!!
I hope that everyone had a great weekend! I especially hope that all had a joyous Mother's day. This is a weird time, for sure, so it seemed like a little escape from it all to celebrate people that we love.
I got a TON of feedback about the lobster and the halibut! Lobster pasta, lobster mac & cheese, lobster rolls...that felt a little like summer was coming, right? On the halibut, I thought that I had brought in enough for Fairmount and Rittenhouse for Friday. It sold out Wednesday night! So I had to do a little pivot for Rittenhouse (which some of you caught on instagram) and sold sushi grade tuna down there. Now, some of you are upset with me but have no fear! This Wednesday, Tuna will be on sale for Fairmount! It'll be your turn to have some ceviche, poke, seared tuna or tartare. In fact, a nice simple recipe for making tartare right here:

Also, we will be getting into soft shell crabs this week or next! It all depends on water temperatures and things have been a little chilly. Stay tuned on that one. We would clean them (referred to as 'dressed' in fishmonger lingo) for you so that they are ready to cook up. The shelf life on them isn't very long so you would have a couple of days in the fridge to cook them up. I will post up a recipe for them if they are available. Don't hold me to it for this week but if they shed, I will be all over them!
I am working on an online order form that can process payments. Please be patient with me. It takes a little time but it may be ready for next week. I will try to maintain this format, though, so that we can maintain this kind of communication. I don't want to just have a sterile website. Our ability to communicate with each other through this forum is very important to me and the community, I feel.
A reminder to those who keep forgetting to do so....'order shucking knife NOW'....you'll totally regret it when Wednesday comes around and oysters go on sale again. You'll hate yourself. Trust me. Oysters are going to be Shiny Seas from PEI for a little of a change. FYI
Anyway, thank you all for your support. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. On a personal note, I was walking with my daughter yesterday telling her that it felt really good that many homes in Fairmount were eating seafood on Mother's day that came from Small World Seafood and celebrating. No good words for that feeling.
Ok, I'm gonna stop now before I get emotional and cry.
